19,573 regional fans drawn to top Japanese talent and rising stars at the C3 CharaExpo 2016

This year’s C3 CharaExpo ended on a high with 19,573 fans across Southeast Asia that attended the two-day event held on July 9 and 10 at Hall 7 of the Singapore Expo. In addition to meet-and-greets with voice actors such as Mark Ishii (Chrono Shindou in Cardfight!! Vanguard G); Yui Makinoand Sora Tokui (Nico Yazawa from Love Live!), fans got up close and personal with illustrators such as Na-Ga and Asuka Nishi. The C3 CharaExpo also showcased two full-length, sold-out Premium Live concerts by Emi Nitta (pictured below) and Suzuko Mimori.

Organized by Bushiroad Inc., ASATSU-DK INC., SOTSU CO., LTD. and Amuse Entertainment Singapore Pte Ltd, the second edition of the C3 CharaExpo 2016 was headlined by 50 Japanese stars of anime, manga, games, cosplay and pro-wrestling. The highlight of the expo was definitely the special appearance by the cast of Detective Opera Milky Holmes, members of Poppin’ Party from BanG Dream and three members of Aqours from Love Live! Sunshine!!.. Musical talent marina, STARMARIE, The World Standard and PrizmaX also performed to packed sessions.

“The expanded line-up of the C3 CharaExpo worked really well for us as fans were drawn to our headline musical acts and exposed to the rising stars of the Japan’s music scene. Fans from around the region packed the halls to meet-and-greet sessions with their favourite stars. We were also able to forge new partnerships with content creators around the region to bring more high-quality Japanese content and entertainment to fans in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines,” said Takaaki Kidani, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bushiroad Inc.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling fans were treated to two days of action-packed individual and tag team matches with stars such as Kazuchika Okada, Hirooki Goto, Tetsuya Naito, Ryusuke Taguchi.

The Cos☆Stage cosplay competition saw Lawliet’s entry of Kogitsunemaru from Touken Ranbu – ONLINE- emerge as its winner and Singapore’s representative at this year’s Cosplay Collection Night at Tokyo Game Show in September. “I was really surprised and happy to win as the competition was really tough this year. Kogitsunemaru is my favorite character from Touken Ranbu – ONLINE- and it will be an honor to be part of the Tokyo Game Show this year,” she said.
