Making Dreams Come True With  Kids’ Entertainment on Netflix

Malaysians love to bond over entertainment, even when we have to be physically apart – Netflix watch party, anyone? We know Malaysians apa pun nak and adore having access to a buffet of our favourite movies and series anytime, anywhere, on any Internet connected device. If you’re feeling restless and in the mood to move it, move it with Madagascar, roll with Carmen Sandiego on her adventures, or visit Far Far Away with your favourite ogres, we’re making your dreams come true.

Here’s a list of some of our favourite family films now available on Netflix, together with tips to help you manage your kids screen time.

  1. Keep em’ moving in Madagascar

We didn’t lie when we said we’re making dreams come true. If you didn’t already know, you can find Alex the lion and his companions navigating their way through Africa after a botched rescue mission in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. You can also follow the gang as they set their sights on New York City in Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted  as they hitch a ride with a travelling circus!

PARENTAL CONTROL TIP: To ensure your kids’ are just moving it to the Madagascar groove, tailor their Netflix profile so they can only see content that is suitable for their age. You can also remove individual series or films by title. When this filter is used, the blocked title(s) won’t show up anywhere in that profile.

Within ‘Profile and Parental Controls’, automatically filter content within each profile with maturity ratings for different age groups.

2. Visit Far Far Away with your favourite Swamp Monster

We’re leaving the swamp! Follow your cuddly ogre friend and his ladylove in Shrek 2 as they return to their homeland to tell her parents about their marriage. Prince Charming is far from happy with the news, and tries to con his way to marrying Fiona with the help of his mother’s potion. Need more Shrek? Shrek The Third and Shrek Forever After are also streaming on Netflix.

PARENTAL CONTROL TIP: We know kids can be sneaky too and will try to get into your profile to watch all the shows and films from your list. You can lock each profile using a unique 4-digit PIN. To set one up, go to ‘Account’ and then ‘Profile and Parental Controls’ to change the Profile Lock setting.

You might also want to select “Require PIN to add new profiles” so your little rascal isn’t adding a new profile on their own.

3. Follow the rabbit with Wallace and Gromit

Winner of the Best Animated Feature Oscar in 2005, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was the first stop-motion film to claim the award. The story follows Wallace, an eccentric inventor and his trusted canine friend, Gromit, who are pest removal experts who stumble upon a voracious monster that threatens to ruin the annual veggie-growing contest.

PARENTAL CONTROL TIP: In case your kids decide to channel their inner Wallace and set out on an adventure on their Netflix account, you can see what your kids have been watching within the profile created for them.

We know sometimes parents want to kepoh on what is being viewed from the kids’ profiles out of concern. Select “viewing activity” to see a list of movies and shows watched, by date.

4. What do you want Carmen Sandiego to do next?

Carmen Sandiego: To Steal or Not To Steal  lets you drive the action in this interactive adventure, helping Carmen save Ivy and Zack when V.I.L.E captures them during a heist in Shanghai.

PARENTAL CONTROL TIP: Just like how your kids have the choice to control where Carmen Sandiego lands next, you can also easily control and review each profile’s setting using the Profile and Parental Controls hub from your Account.

Want to prevent your kids from watching back-to-back episodes of a series? Simple. Under “Playback settings” on the hub, simply de-select “autoplay next episode”. You can even choose not to autoplay previews on a profile, simply by deselecting “autoplay previews”.

Everyone can now add these new, improved controls to their profile by going to account settings on our mobile or laptop.
