Hunted follows nine teams of two in a real-life manhunt as they attempt the nearly impossible task of disappearing in today’s vast digital world as highly skilled investigators combine state-of-the-art tracking methods with traditional tactics to pursue and catch them. From searching their targets’ homes and scouring their internet and cell phone histories, to identifying behavioral patterns, Hunters in the field and Command Center investigators work together to identify clues to potential hiding places and collaborators that can ultimately lead to capture. Will the anxiety of being fugitives on the run cause teams to make a critical error, or will they be able to stay off the grid long enough to avoid being found within 100,000 square miles of the southeastern United States? Do you like a challenge? Nine teams of regular civilians put themselves to the test in new reality series Hunted, taking on the role of fugitives. If they successfully evade capture for 28 days, they win a Grand Prize of US$250, 000!
The catch is, they have expert Hunters on their trail who are highly trained and equipped with state-of-the-art surveillance equipment. Led by retired FBI agent Robert W. Clark, they include cyber experts, information analysts and profilers so the fugitives are up against incredible odds. Here’s a look at what they need to deal with – how well do you think you’d fare against these challenges?

1. Never a moment’s rest

Fugitives need to keep moving and get used to the idea that someone is always watching – drones, CCTVs and traffic cameras are only a few of the surveillance tactics used by the Hunters to track their prey.

2. Privacy? What privacy?

To anticipate likely movements, Hunters examine every detail of the fugitives’ personal lives. Private and professional history, social media accounts and much more are scoured to track behaviours that could lead to a successful capture.

3. No sense of security

Obviously, fugitives can’t stay in familiar neighbourhoods. Going out of their comfort zone and constantly having to deal with new people and places keeps the fugitives on a razor’s edge of wariness.

4. Loneliness

Human beings are social creatures, relying on common networks for support. Without that essential circle of family, friends, colleagues and familiar faces, an individual can crumble from within.

5. Paranoia

The combination of sleep deprivation, lack of secure and familiar surroundings, loneliness and the constant threat of capture is psychologically and emotionally draining, leading to paranoia.

6. Unplugging

To evade capture, the fugitives either purchase ‘burn’ phones, or attempt to go ‘off the grid’, which is an alien experience for those accustomed to being connected at all times.

7. Exhaustion

For a fugitive, even sleep is a luxury and the longer they are on the run, the harder it is to find new places to hide and rest. Exhaustion can cloud their minds and lead to errors in judgement hence it’s a major hurdle to overcome.

8. Infighting

The stress of being on the run can lead to friction between teammates, as both are striving to deal with the physical, psychological and emotional toll.
